Damask Project

February 28, 2009

A not quite finished project.  I can see I wove this in 2003!   The following pieces   I wove  the 10/2 mercerized cotton warp intending  to make a binder cover for my damask samples.   The Mexican hummingbird bag is the same warp, different coloured  16/2  Swedish linen weft.  Damask looms take a long time to thread so warps are long and multi-purpose!

I used a stencil design from the  Arts and Crafts era – a Macintosh Rose design, which I converted with a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Proweave.   I graphed out the word damask and my initials using the computer program as well.     I like the weight of this fabric  and I will have fun designing for the rest of the warp.
