This is a scarf I didn’t like the look of when it was finished. It was a simple stripe easy ikat and plain colour , but I didn’t like the colours. You can still see faint evidence of the stripes where the dye took differently. This time I tried a folding technique of shibori after I overdyed the whole scarf black and then used a discharge on the edges. It is a plain weave of 30/2 silk sett at 34 epi.
The black overdye took unevenly and the discharge was stronger in some parts than others creating various blues and faded purples.
