Indigo Fermentation – Days 10, 11. 12

August 9, 2009

It looks as though most of the indigo has reduced. But I am not seeing the “coppery sheen” on the top that is described in various instructions. The smell is so awful I have had to move it out of the house which has slowed the fermentation down a bit. I will have to think of another way of keeping it going if i intend to do a large vat. I will try to dye something in the next couple of days to see if I achieved anything at all. If not I will start again.

Thanks so much for posting about this process. I really had no idea how much is involved in indigo dyeing.

    Hope it works!!!
