Or maybe sockettes? These are a little too small for me – they will have to find a home. I used some odds and ends of leftover sock yarn which is why these are shorties. Not perfect by any means, but they are finished!
Congratulations! Do you make the pattern by hand on the knitting machine? My ordinary kniting machine cannot knit pattern the in the circular mode, only plain knitting.
The yarn is some of the self patterning type – it sure makes it easy! I did switch to a plain dark blue for the heels and toes for contrast.
Cute sockettes, Evelyn! I did have one customer specifically request an “anklet” type sock, short like the ones in your photo, and done on the sock machine. I made the hung hem a few rows less than usual, then added needles for solid heel, bottom of foot, and toe, and made the rest as usual.
I saw a sock machine at the historic society in Exeter, NH recently. Apparently it was quite the thing at the turn of the last century. Glad you’re helping to revive it!!
