Tapestry Weaving – more samples

February 4, 2010

More tapestry samples.  I wove all of the samplers  years ago, enjoyed the process, but never went any further.  As I look at these and remember the pleasre of weaving tapestry I am thinking it is time to do something more.  I think both of these sample designs are from the same book by Nancy Harvey.

The first one I used whatever yarn came to hand as I was weaving.  The second just two colours in a Lemieux 2 ply.  Warp is cotton seine twine.

Nice!!! I definitely look forward to your take on tapestry.

Now I feel like tapestry would be a great summer project for me – portable, easy to take out on the porch, lots more weaving compared to warping!

Looking forward to whatever you come up with!

Evelyn, what is this out-of-the blue interest we have in tapestry weaving? I do enjoy the contemplative nature of it, line-by-line decisions, no treadling, just hands and butterflies of yarn colors, or possibly tapestry bobbins. I think that’s what I like about it, it’s not totally worked out before beginning. Looking forward to seeing more of your tapestry weaving!
