Inkle Weaving 2

The inkling has begun – wow it has been a few years since I tried this.  I was never very successful – maybe because I just didn’t practice enough.  This time I have an end use in mind, which I think is a good motivator.    As you can see from my very first few inches I need to practice a lot more!

The edges are a bit loopy and uneven, ( it looks worse in the close up than in it really is – really!)   but I am sure by the time I am finished this first sampler I will have it under control and can weave an actual band for my little bag.   I am using the same linen as the bag,  16/2 wet spun line linen from Sweden (Vavlin).  I doubled the yarn for the pattern pick-up, but can see that a softer yarn would probably give the pattern more definition.  But I don’t have anything else in the right brown so will stay with this look.   Linen doesn’t have a lot of  stretch so is fairly unforgiving if the edge department especially if the tension isn’t even.
