Skein winder

February 6, 2011

This little wooden piece was, I think, one arm of an old skein winder.   One end is whittled down to fit into the centre of the winder along with four or more arms.   I wish I had found the entire piece, not just the one part.

And yesterday’s morning sky.

Wow, wow, wow. I love the fabric that skein winder arm is on! Mmmm. My kind of weaving. I love the sunset (rise?) too. And really, the arm is pretty neat too!

We have been having some lovely sunrises too. So brief though. The piece looks interesting to say the least, and the REP mat/runner? Is fantastic. Those look like sunrise colors too!

I wonder what the story is behind the skein winder? Doesn’t it make you think about the people who have used it before and what their lives/projects were like?

Wonderful photo of the colorful sky!

The woven piece under the skein winder is very nice. Can you tell us more about it??

    Have a great day Evelyn.
