Another Old Loom

And a very dirty one.
We went through many buckets to clean off the mud. Where had it it been?
I am helping to get this loom back in working condition for the Fructova Museum. Next part will be the conditioning of the wood and making of a few missing parts by the woodworkers guild. The Grand Forks Fibre Arts Guild weavers will be using the loom for rag rugs.

Yikes, where had it been indeed. Maybe outside of a barn, instead of inside like any self respecting old loom should be. it’s going to take a heap of conditioning substance to get that wood back. What will you use?

Sounds like a fascinating project. Did you see the huge loom that was recently posted on Weavetech? I was amazed that a hardware store would devote so much retail space to it.

It makes you wonder where the loom has been. It’s too bad that it wasn’t treated better, but hopefully it will be taken care of now. Kudos to you for taking the time to restore an old loom!
